Many people are under the impression that making loose leaf tea is hard. That couldn't be further from the truth. All you need is a teapot, an infuser and cup to enjoy your cup of freshly brewed loose leaf tea.
Put 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea in your infuser for every cup of tea that you want. Once your water is boiling simply pour the water over the leaves in your infuser. Traditionally, water is poured over the tea leaves and cup to activate the leaves and clean the cup. Whichever way you like to do it is purely up to you.
Depending on the type of tea you are making you can steep it for up to 7 minutes for the first steep. Green, White and Black Tea are typically brewed for 3 minutes for the first steep. Herbal teas may take longer.
With many varieties of Black Tea, it is recommended that you add milk and sugar to taste. With White, Green and many Herbal varieties, it is recommended that you do not add anything.
Almost any tea can be enjoyed not only hot but as an iced tea as well. You can either let the tea cool overnight in the fridge. You can also fill a plastic pitcher with ice and cold water and simply stir in the brewed tea. Feel free to experiment and let me know in the comments how you like to enjoy your tea.
